Divisions bring focus and community together. Each IACEA division connects educators, leaders, and advocates around shared roles and goals, creating space for collaboration, growth, and impact across Illinois.

Administration

The Administration Division supports professionals whose primary focus is the leadership, coordination, and operation of adult education programs. Rather than working directly with students in the classroom, members of this division ensure programs run effectively, sustainably, and in alignment with institutional and state requirements.

This division includes, but is not limited to

  • Program directors and coordinators
  • Administrative support staff
  • Records and data management personnel

Student Support Services

The Student Support Services Division is made up of professionals who support adult learners beyond instruction. Members work in roles that remove barriers, provide guidance, and help learners navigate the systems surrounding education, work, and family life.

This division typically includes professionals involved in

  • Counseling and advising
  • Transition and career services
  • Office and intake support
  • Academic and career goal setting
  • Family assistance and wraparound services
  • Childcare and transportation coordination
  • Financial aid support
  • Recruitment, retention, and referral
  • Advocacy and assessment

These roles play a critical part in helping adult learners persist, succeed, and move forward with confidence.

Instruction and Curriculum: English Language Learning

The Instruction and Curriculum English Language Learning Division provides a professional home for instructors and curriculum developers working with adult English learners. This division focuses on effective, inclusive, and practical approaches to language instruction that support learners in academic, civic, and career contexts.

Instruction and Curriculum: Basic and Secondary Education

This division supports instructors and curriculum developers working in adult basic and secondary education. Members focus on building foundational skills while creating pathways toward credentials, employment, and further education.
